What is the Melange Fashion Show?
As featured by NBC, The Melange Fashion Show has a rich history of showcasing diversity in Fashion. The Kid's Dream crew was honored to feature special occasion dresses at this year's show, which was held during NY Fashion Week with some spectacular performances and appearances. Melange took place at the historic St Mary's Episcopal Church in Harlem and been at the forefront of inclusion and community. The "We Are Not Afraid!" Community of the Episcopal Church in West Harlem leads in their pursuit of justice and peace for the sick, lonely, oppressed, and poor by putting into action the message of the Gospel by the power of the Holy Spirit. "Do not be afraid," Luke 1:30.
2019 Melanage Show Highlights
What are the highlights from the 2019 Melanage Fashion Show at NY fashion week?
360 Fashion Network
This year's Melanage Show theme explored the intersection of where diversity meets technology, via a partnership with 360Fashion Network founded by Anina. The agency specializes in wearable technologies, the Internet of Things (IoT), and Smart Garment Manufacturing. Robotic Dresses were on exhibition at KNOTEL in NYC and featured a panel decision on inclusion. The intersection of tech and fashion also brought a visit from Sophia the Robot.
Katiti Kironde
Katiti Kironde is the first African American woman on the cover of any fashion publication (Glamour in 1968) and Board of Advisors of Melange since 2011. Katiti co-founded the KIRONDE Education + Health Fund, Inc (KEHF), a 501(C)3 non-profit corporation that promotes education and healthcare for orphaned children in Uganda. Funds for this year's event will be used to support KEHF and its recipients who are working to advance health and education.
Madeline Stuart
Madeline Stuart is the world's most famous model with down syndrome. Madeline and her story have been featured in Vogue, Marie Claire, and more (500,000+ followers on FB), will be attending and participating in the show. Other VIP guests include:
Corey Woods
In this spirit, Kid’s Dream took our best to NY Fashion Week, and along with Celebrity Eyewear designer Corey Woods, our little models took to the runway. While walking, the Kid’s Dream models wore Corey Woods glasses, which he designs for celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Beyonce, as seen in this August shot.
Kid’s Dream was part of the dynamic blend of fashion, dance, and art and the team has worked with artists of all backgrounds, ranging from fashion designers who have been featured on Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, and Lady Gaga to back up dancers who have performed with Beyonce.

Conclusion
The 2019 Melanage Show was an amazing experience for all involved. Together with partners Katiti Kironde, Madeline Stuart, Corey Woods, and 360 Fashion Network's Anina, the show was able to see its vision through to celebrate the rich diversity in fashion as well as the intersection with technology. Everyone from Kid's Dream is honored to be a part of celebrating inclusion with the "We Are Not Afraid!" Community of the Episcopal Church in West Harlem.
